Graphics card should be delivered today. But I had some time and figured I could probably get Windows 8 installed. Soon I'll be able to browse oppo so much faster! And perhaps not run out of ram everytime I open solidworks.
Considering I have had my last computer since 2008 it was about time for an upgrade. Next will be what to do with the old computer. I would like up give the htpc an upgrade but my old one was amazingly loud, like a damn jet engine. I think half my excitement will be a much quieter computer while it's in use.

I hope an SSD is part of your build.

You could be like me and wire my whole house up and use Raspberry Pi's!

no case yet? Also, is that mobo on standoffs? I would recommend standoffs. It probably won't kill it, but you might get some weirdness from properties of the bag if it is touching bare solder joints.

Is that a Mora that I spot bottom right?

From the small picture I thought that massive "cooling tower" were vacuum tubes and I could not for the live of me figure out how you'd make that work with a modern computer.

Gahhh, you do know that the outside of antistatic bags are really conductive, right? You're lucky nothing is fried if it's just sat on the bag.

Im recycling my old case along with what ever would still be usable (storage, cd-drive). I still need to disassemble the old computer. No standoffs yet, I'll get right on it. Thanks.

GOOD EYE! Love that thing, out of the box very sharp and lighter than expected, which I like. Also cheap enough that I can abuse it and not really care (although I do care). I recommend them to anyone looking for a good "full size" knife.

There is, 256gb. Will be my first ssd, I'm excited. From what I have heard its one of the best things you can do to speed up daily tasks. Im keeping the old harddrives for some mass storage of course.

Completely agree. I've been through a few knives for work, and the Mora is the best of the lot, so much so that it is the only one I will continue to buy. Good choice :)

similar to my rig I built a while ago.
CPU: i5 3570K
Asus P87 Mobo
Ram 24 GB DDR3 1600
128 GB SSD for windows, 1tb WD black drive + hybrid SSD for games, plus big drives for storage.
2x GTX770's 3gb.
Cooler master hyper 212, i hit 5ghz with it stable.
Corsair Carbide R300 case - high recommend for a cheap good case.
also, I'd check the 12V rail of the PSU, doesnt seem like enough to me.

Hahaha, that would be great somehow though. Crazy sound card perhaps?
It is massive, it should be MUCH quieter than the stock one. Wich is something I learned the hard way that I want.

43A, 516W. Im only going to run the single gpu so I'm hopeful it will be alright. I guess I'll find out...
Do you know any good waus to stress test it?
I'm recycling my old case a coolermaster 690, has pretty good airflow and I'm cheap.

TDP is only 145 watts, you should be ok.

Use FurMark to stress the GPU, Prime95 to stress the CPU.
I run both at the same time to test the power supply. Those two combined will create more heat and draw a lot more power than any "legitimate" program ever could, so if you can run them both for, say 15-30 minutes without an issue, you should be golden.
